Greetings Golfers!
Important changes are coming to the Golf Rival courses! ⛳️
We are finalizing the release of the new Target and Wind chart and rolling it out to all Golfers. Starting from the 10th of September, all Golfers will have the new Target available in the game as their default version.
We’ve also introduced a temporary option to switch back to the old version, so you can ease into the new design and bid farewell to the old Target look we've all grown with and gotten accustomed to. Please note that the option to switch from one target to another will be available on the Golf Rival version 133. and up until the 8th of October.
Let's walk you through what’s coming and why we think the new Target will be an improvement for players across all Stages and worth your while.
Why the Target and Wind Chart Change?
We've done extensive research and analysis of the information from all available channels, from game data and metrics to community feedback and survey results, so we want to give you a deeper dive into the whys and hows of the change.
Over the years, we’ve identified certain roadblocks in the adoption and learning curve of the Target and Wind charts for players of different levels of experience. With those insights in mind, we’ve redesigned the Target and Wind charts to increase the clarity of the Target and Wind mechanics, improve aiming precision, and provide a more intuitive experience during fast-paced games.
Through the slow rollout of the new Target, we were able to collect invaluable data and feedback, which helped us understand the impact of this change across all Stages. The visual redesign has brought tangible improvements in all areas, both for newer players and experienced Golfers on higher Stages. On the other hand, we recognize that these changes require adjustments to established habits and a period of adaptation for tenured Golfers. We understand that such changes are always challenging to navigate at first, and we truly appreciate all the community feedback we’ve seen so far. To facilitate a smoother transition and more control over the match experience, we’ve developed a temporary switch to the old target for the next 28 days.
We’ve observed that the new Target design has led to a higher success rate over time, even among players who were initially hesitant about the change, from a higher dunking precision to a faster aiming time.
We are excited to see positive results in the usage of the new Target and look forward to providing all Golfers the opportunity to try it out on the course.
⏻ Temporary Option to Switch to Old Target
During the slow rollout of the new Target, we've seen great signs of improvement in the success rate, both with new and existing players. At the same time, we've carefully observed the feedback from the community, which showed us that the adaptation period was longer than what we initially anticipated.
To allow for a smoother transition and a graceful sunsetting of the old Target, we are introducing the option to switch back to the old Target view during the next 28 days, until the 8th of October 2025. This option aims to create an easier transition to the new Target as well as to provide experienced Golfers an opportunity to bid farewell to the old Target, which played an important role in the journey of all of us.
After the timer counts down, the new Target and Wind chart will become the default and only option available for all Golfers. This will allow us to have a smoother transition period and to ensure competitive fairness and technical stability in the long run by providing a unified experience for everyone.
This option is supported only on the app version 133. and above, so make sure to download the latest available update from your store if you don’t see this option in your Settings.
